Trump’s Gaza Plan Gains Momentum

[post-views]

Donald Trump’s framework agreement to end the Gaza war and begin reconstruction has gathered rare global momentum. Supported by key Arab and Islamic states including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey and Indonesia, the plan has also received backing from the UK and European countries. Even Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood beside Trump in Washington and endorsed the plan—despite its indirect nod to Palestinian statehood, which he has long opposed.

Trump has given Hamas “three to four days” to accept or reject the deal. If they refuse, the war continues. The plan mirrors an earlier Biden initiative but comes after months of destruction, famine, and prolonged Israeli hostages’ captivity. Arab foreign ministers hailed the proposal as a potential path to full Israeli withdrawal and a just two-state solution under international law.

Yet Netanyahu quickly clarified in Hebrew that Israel would “resist a Palestinian state.” The ambiguity allows both Trump and Netanyahu to present different versions of the deal. Extremist Israeli ministers have already condemned it, while mainstream opposition parties welcomed the move. The framework may reshape Gaza’s fate, but its survival depends on negotiations fragile enough to collapse at any stage.
