Renowned American security and defense expert Dr. C. Christine Fair has categorically rejected India’s claims of downing Pakistani fighter jets, calling the assertions “nonsense” and lacking any credible evidence.
Speaking on Indian journalist Karan Thapar’s show The Interview with Karan Thapar on The Wire, Dr. Fair addressed recent statements made by Indian Air Marshal Bharti, who claimed that the Indian Air Force had shot down an unspecified number of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) aircraft. Thapar also cited alleged satellite imagery that suggested significant damage to Pakistani airbases in Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, Jacobabad, and Bholari.
Dr. Fair firmly dismissed these claims, stating, “There is no evidence of massive destruction.” She expressed surprise at the assertion that 20% of Pakistan’s air force had been disabled, calling it “an astonishing and certainly false claim.”
When asked directly about Air Marshal Bharti’s statement, Dr. Fair did not mince words. “Bakwas,” she said—a Hindi/Urdu term for “nonsense”—adding, “There’s no evidence for it.”
Her remarks serve as a pointed rebuttal to India’s narrative, highlighting the lack of verifiable proof behind the claims of downing Pakistani aircraft or causing significant damage to PAF infrastructure.
