UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed grave concern over the escalating conflict in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire to protect innocent civilians.
Guterres highlighted the devastating impact of the Israeli military’s offensive, which has resulted in widespread casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and homes.
The UN chief emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian assistance to reach those affected by the conflict, as hospitals struggle to cope with the influx of wounded and essential supplies dwindle.
The Palestinian health ministry has reported a staggering death toll of over 10,000, including a significant number of children, since the start of the Israeli offensive.
International organizations have joined Guterres in calling for an immediate ceasefire to allow for the delivery of humanitarian aid and to prevent further loss of life.
