US and China Condemn Terrorist Attack on Jaffar Express Train in Balochistan, Pakistan

The United States (US) Embassy in Islamabad strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan on Wednesday, offering condolences for the tragic incident and extending sympathies to the victims.

On Tuesday afternoon, gunmen ambushed the train in a remote mountainous region of Balochistan, forcing it to stop before taking hundreds of passengers hostage. The attack was immediately claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a designated terrorist group in Pakistan. Security sources reported that at least 30 attackers were killed, and 190 passengers were rescued as the operation to neutralize the assailants continued through Wednesday.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the US Embassy expressed strong condemnation of the attack, stating, “We strongly condemn the attack on the Jaffar Express train and the hostage-taking of passengers in Kacchi, Balochistan, claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army, a U.S.-Specially Designated Global Terrorist group.”

The embassy further expressed sympathy, saying, “We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims, their families, and all those affected by this horrific act. The Pakistani people deserve to live free from violence and fear. The United States will remain a steadfast partner of Pakistan in its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens. We stand in solidarity with Pakistan during this difficult time.”

In addition to the US, China also condemned the attack. A statement from Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Pakistan in its fight against terrorism. “We noted the reports and strongly condemn this terrorist attack,” Mao said during a regular press conference. “China firmly opposes terrorism in any form. We will continue to firmly support Pakistan in combating terrorism, maintaining solidarity and social stability, and protecting the safety of the people.”

Both nations have expressed their support for Pakistan in addressing terrorism and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
