US on High Alert for Possible Attack by Iran on Israeli or American Assets in the Region

The United States has been put on high alert and is preparing itself for a possible attack by Iran targeting American or Israeli assets in the region. This response is expected to be in retaliation to Israel’s strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria, which was carried out by suspected Israeli warplanes on Monday. The strike killed a senior commander of Iran’s Quds Force, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, along with six other Iranian military advisers.

A US official confirmed the news in a statement on Friday, saying that the country is currently in a high state of vigilance and that an attack could come in the next week. The official’s statement was in response to a CNN report that claimed that the US was preparing itself for a possible attack by Iran.

The strike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus marked a major escalation in Israel’s ongoing war with its regional adversaries. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has already stated that it reserves the right to take a decisive response to the attack.

US President Joe Biden also discussed the situation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone call on Thursday. According to a senior Biden administration official, both teams have been in regular and continuous contact since then, and the United States fully supports Israel’s defence against threats from Iran.
