The White House announced that US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss the ongoing conflict in Yemen. The meeting was held on Sunday night in Saudi Arabia, amid a strained period for US-Saudi relations, marked by disagreements over human rights and oil production.
According to the White House statement, Sullivan and Prince Mohammed, the de facto ruler of the kingdom, discussed progress made in talks to consolidate the 15-month-long ceasefire in Yemen. They also welcomed the United Nations’ ongoing efforts to bring an end to the war in the country.

The Saudi-led coalition has been fighting to oust the Iran-backed Houthi rebels since 2015, following their capture of the capital city the previous year. Despite the truce officially expiring in October, a ceasefire has largely held since its implementation in April 2022.
