The US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) debunked a false “travel warning” for Pakistan amidst the ongoing political turmoil, firmly denying the issuance of any travel advisory for the country in June.
A fabricated travel warning had been making rounds on social media platforms, cautioning US citizens of Pakistani origin against using their National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) when visiting Pakistan.
The deceptive travel warning claimed, “If you are travelling to Pakistan from USA, Canada you should not use NICOP. Instead get a Pakistani visa on USA/Canada passport.”

In response to the counterfeit document, the SCA promptly addressed the issue, stating, “We are aware of a fake travel warning circulating.”
Furthermore, they emphasized, “As a reminder, all our alerts and messages to US citizens in Pakistan are exclusively published on the official US embassy’s website.”
The most recent security alert issued by the US for Pakistan dates back to May 15.
