WGA Unleashes Protest Blitz Against Apple’s Streaming Woes

[post-views]

In sync with the highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has unveiled its captivating plan to stage a protest against tech giant Apple.

Set for June 5, the union intends to distribute eye-catching leaflets across multiple locations, urging Apple to resolve the ongoing dispute and address the concerns raised by the guild.

The WGA has vehemently criticized Apple TV+ for its meager streaming library, highlighting the dearth of licensed programs and the scarcity of WGA-covered scripted content.

Drawing attention to the repercussions of the strike, the union underscores how prominent series like “Loot,” “Severance,” and “Sinking Spring” have already been adversely affected.

Demanding fair negotiations, the WGA urges Apple, a company that boasted substantial revenue last year, to allocate a modest $17 million per year to meet the writers’ reasonable demands.

With Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, and Cupertino (Apple’s headquarters) as the stage, these protests are expected to send a powerful message to Apple and the wider industry.
