Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded Slovakia for what he described as its “steadfast commitment” to friendship with China during a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, according to reports from Chinese state media on Thursday. Xi emphasized that Beijing values this relationship and expressed readiness to enhance political dialogue and practical exchanges with Bratislava in order to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
In their talks, Xi stressed that the current global environment makes unity and collaboration among nations more vital than ever. He told Fico that the international community is facing unprecedented challenges that require solidarity rather than division, adding that China sees Slovakia as a constructive partner in advancing such cooperation.
Fico’s visit coincided with a grand military parade in Beijing on Wednesday, a display of both China’s expanding defense capabilities and its diplomatic influence. His attendance at the event highlighted the significance China attaches to its ties with European partners, particularly smaller nations that can serve as bridges between Beijing and the broader European Union.
