Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned the world that Vladimir Putin will keep pushing the war “wider and deeper” unless he is stopped. Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, he urged allies to show unity, strengthen support, and prevent Russia’s aggression from spilling into more countries.
Zelensky cautioned that nations face a dangerous global arms race fueled by advanced military technology, stressing that “weapons decide who survives.” He demanded global rules on artificial intelligence and its use in warfare, warning of the threat posed by autonomous drones and unmanned planes.
His remarks came as US President Donald Trump signaled a shift, saying Ukraine could recover all its territory. Trump also called Russia a “paper tiger,” though Moscow dismissed the label, claiming it was more of a “bear.” Zelensky welcomed Trump’s comments and said he had a “good meeting” with him, adding that the US appeared willing to provide Ukraine with postwar security guarantees.
The Ukrainian leader warned that Europe cannot afford to lose Moldova to Russian influence after missing chances with Georgia and Belarus. Moldova’s pro-EU president recently accused Moscow of spending hundreds of millions to spread fear before Sunday’s elections. Meanwhile, NATO states Estonia and Poland protested Russian airspace violations, and Romania reported drone incursions. Zelensky insisted that stopping Russia now is cheaper than facing nuclear-armed drones tomorrow.
