A total of 4,966 Afghan refugees left Pakistan for Afghanistan on Sunday night, according to an official report. The data revealed that out of the total, 1,698 individuals were holders of the Afghan Citizen Card (ACC), while the remaining 3,268 were unregistered refugees.

The report detailed that among the 1,698 ACC holders, 583 chose to leave voluntarily, while 1,115 were deported. In the group of 3,268 unregistered refugees, 1,973 voluntarily returned to Afghanistan, and 1,875 were deported.

Officials involved in the repatriation process noted that the deportation procedures continued late into the night, and thus, the final count of Afghan refugees leaving on Monday would be provided later.

Since the repatriation efforts began in September 2023, a total of 484,975 Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan. Of this number, 473,841 left voluntarily, while 11,134 were deported from various regions of Pakistan, particularly through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The ongoing process marks a significant chapter in the broader repatriation efforts involving Afghan nationals in Pakistan, as the country continues its collaborative efforts with Afghanistan to manage refugee flows.
