Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang today in Beijing to discuss bilateral cooperation and exchange views on key regional and international issues. The meeting is part of the premier’s six-day visit to China, where he is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit and China’s ‘Victory Day’ parade.
Shehbaz will also meet Chinese Minister for Information Technology and Industry Li Lecheng, reflecting Islamabad’s push for stronger cooperation in digital innovation and industrial growth. His schedule includes chairing the second edition of the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference, which will review progress since the first edition held in Shenzhen in June 2024 and chalk out future plans.
The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Information Minister Atta Tarar. Earlier, he met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing, where both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to expand cooperation. Shehbaz thanked Putin for his invitation to Moscow, saying Pakistan and Russia were “going in the right direction.”
