The Baluchistan government has imposed Section 144 across the entire province throughout February in response to escalating militant violence and security concerns.
The sweeping restrictions, now in effect, prohibit public gatherings exceeding five people, political rallies, processions, and demonstrations without explicit permission from district authorities. Citizens are barred from carrying or displaying weapons, conducting aerial firing, or riding pillion on motorcycles—though exceptions may be granted for women and children.
These measures follow coordinated terrorist attacks that killed 15 security personnel while resulting in 92 militant casualties, according to military sources. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti commended security forces and disclosed that over 5,800 intelligence-based operations were conducted within 40 hours of the incidents.
Additional regulations ban unregistered vehicles, tinted windows, and face coverings in public spaces, except for legitimate medical purposes. Law enforcement agencies have been authorized to strictly implement these directives, with violators facing up to six months imprisonment or monetary penalties.
Provincial authorities maintain these emergency measures are essential for protecting civilian lives and property while supporting ongoing counter-terrorism operations. Officials are urging residents to cooperate fully with security arrangements during this period of heightened alert.
