Iran Signals Possible Restart of Nuclear Talks with US Amid Diplomatic Moves

[post-views]

Tehran/Washington: Iran indicated on Monday that it expects progress soon on a framework to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States, following unverified reports that the country’s president has ordered the talks to restart.

Tehran said it is reviewing diplomatic initiatives from regional countries aimed at easing tensions with Washington. “Several points have been addressed, and we are finalising the details of each stage in the diplomatic process, which we hope to conclude in the coming days,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held calls with officials from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey to discuss the developments. Reports from the state Fars news agency suggested that nuclear talks will resume, though no date has been confirmed. Araghchi is expected to meet US envoy Steve Witkoff, while Witkoff is scheduled to visit Israel for discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The move comes as US-Iran tensions ease slightly, despite the continued presence of American warships and fighter jets in the region. Washington reportedly demands that Iran halt uranium enrichment, curb its missile program, and stop supporting allied armed groups as conditions for renewed talks. Tehran has stressed that its nuclear program is civilian but faces mounting economic pressure and international sanctions.
