The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has confirmed that Pakistan’s airspace remains completely open and safe for all civil aviation, including commercial flights.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the authority dismissed recent media reports suggesting a “partial closure” of the country’s airspace. It described such claims as incorrect and misleading, assuring passengers and airlines that flight operations across the country are continuing without disruption.
According to the PAA, all airports and air traffic services are functioning normally, with no restrictions on arrivals, departures, or overflights. Air traffic controllers and airport teams are fully operational and managing flight movements as usual.
The clarification follows confusion over a recent Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), identified as A0134/26. The PAA explained that the notice is a routine operational advisory concerning the temporary unavailability of certain air traffic service route segments within the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions. These specific segments are unavailable daily between 9:00am and 3:00pm (PKT) from March 3 to 31 for standard operational reasons.
The authority emphasised that alternative routes are available and routinely used, ensuring uninterrupted air traffic flow. It urged media outlets and social media users to rely on official statements and avoid spreading unnecessary alarm.
