Pakistan’s security forces on Tuesday carried out a coordinated operation in Balochistan’s Chaman sector, destroying several positions held by Afghan Taliban elements, according to official sources.
The action was taken under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in response to what officials described as unprovoked cross-border attacks. Multiple installations—including the Sarshan, Al-Marjan, and Edhi posts, along with vehicles and related infrastructure, were successfully targeted and neutralized.
Security officials said the operation demonstrates Pakistan’s firm resolve to defend its territory, adding that militant groups and their facilitators would be dealt with decisively. They maintained that the campaign will continue until all objectives are achieved.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to dismantle militant sanctuaries on their soil, particularly those linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but says these concerns have not been adequately addressed.
Operation Ghazab lil-Haq was launched on February 26 following cross-border hostilities and resumed on March 26 after a brief pause at the request of friendly countries.
In a related development, security forces also destroyed firing positions in South Waziristan after cross-border gunfire injured three civilians, including two women. Earlier this month, an attempted attack on a border post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Ghulam Khan sector was thwarted, with dozens of attackers reportedly killed or injured.
