The United Arab Emirates reported a second consecutive day of missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran, according to its Defence Ministry, while Tehran strongly denied any role in the strikes.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) rejected the allegations on Tuesday, saying its forces had not carried out any missile or drone operations against the UAE in recent days. It added that if any action had been taken, it would have been officially announced, calling the UAE’s claims “completely false.”
The UAE said the latest incident followed attacks a day earlier that injured at least three people and triggered a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah, a key energy hub in the eastern emirate. Details of Tuesday’s damage were not immediately confirmed.
The escalation comes amid rising regional tensions linked to the Strait of Hormuz, where global energy shipments have been disrupted. The United States recently launched “Project Freedom” to protect shipping in the waterway, which carries around one-fifth of the world’s oil trade.
Iran has previously warned and targeted vessels in the region following joint US-Israeli strikes, raising fears of a wider conflict despite an existing ceasefire agreement.
