Xi Reaffirms ‘Unbreakable’ China-Pakistan Friendship During Sharif Visit

[post-views]

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday reaffirmed Beijing’s strong ties with Pakistan as he welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Beijing, describing the friendship between the two countries as “unbreakable” and pledging to further strengthen their long-standing partnership.

During a meeting at the Great Hall of the People, Xi referred to Sharif as an “old friend” and said China and Pakistan had supported and trusted each other for decades, building what he called an enduring traditional friendship. He stressed that China would continue to prioritise relations with Pakistan regardless of changing global circumstances.

Xi also said Beijing was ready to work closely with Islamabad to deepen cooperation under their “all-weather strategic partnership” and build a stronger shared future.

Prime Minister Sharif described China and Pakistan as “iron brothers,” saying the relationship between the two nations was unmatched. He thanked China for supporting peace efforts in the Middle East, noting that the world was passing through a critical period.

The visit comes as Pakistan plays a key diplomatic role in mediation efforts related to the US-Israel conflict involving Iran. Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir accompanied Sharif during the visit and discussions with Chinese leaders.

Chinese state media reported that Xi appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive role” in promoting peace in the Middle East, while both countries also reiterated support for dialogue and stability in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
