US Launches Strikes on Iran After Hormuz Drone Attack Sparks Fresh Escalation

[post-views]

The United States has launched military strikes against Iranian targets after President Donald Trump accused Tehran of violating a recently agreed ceasefire by attacking a commercial cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes targeted Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, along with coastal radar installations, according to US Central Command, which described the operation as a direct response to the drone attack on the Singapore-flagged cargo ship Ever Lovely.

Iran defended the attack, claiming the vessel had travelled through an unauthorised route, and responded to the US action by launching strikes against locations linked to American forces in the region. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that any further US military action would trigger a stronger response.

The renewed confrontation has raised concerns over the fragile truce reached earlier this month. Washington insists Iran’s actions violated commitments to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes. Tehran, however, accused the US of breaking the agreement during ongoing negotiations.

The latest escalation threatens regional stability, disrupts global trade, and increases uncertainty in energy markets. International concern has also grown after maritime authorities suspended plans to evacuate thousands of stranded sailors due to the deteriorating security situation.
