SC investigates new AGP’s details, since officials clueless about his appointment

[post-views]

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday questioned the new attorney-general for Pakistan’s (AGP) official position after his office failed to help the highest court in a property-related issue.

Taking note of the new AGP’s appointment and the resignation of the previous AGP, a two-member bench of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Qazi Faez Isa, took up the matter.

The court called the secretary of law to the next hearing and instructed him to produce all papers relating to the nomination of the new attorney general and the resignation of the previous.

During the hearing, the judge observed that “the office of Mansoor Awan, the new AGP, has not been effectively giving assistance to the court in instances for which it wants an explanation”.
