Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has emphasized the importance of fair and transparent elections in the country, and has urged the Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, to ensure that polling is conducted in a transparent manner.
In a statement to journalists in Lahore, Khan acknowledged the significant power held by the military in Pakistan, and expressed hope that the current army chief would use this power to ensure fair and transparent elections.
Khan, who was deposed as prime minister in April of last year, also commented on the role of the “establishment” in the country’s politics, stating that the situation in Pakistan would improve when it starts working for the rule of law.
