The planned trip of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to Islamabad has been shelved due to unfavorable meteorological conditions, as proclaimed by the Prime Minister’s office on Monday.

An official statement declared, “The scheduled excursion of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the warm-hearted Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been delayed to a later date owing to inclement weather.”

The President’s sojourn was slated to be a one-day visit aimed at exploring and strengthening the friendship and partnership between the UAE and Pakistan, and to evaluate avenues to enhance their relationship in various domains.

Sheikh Mohammed had arrived in Pakistan on January 25th for a private visit, and upon landing in Rahim Yar Khan, he held a meeting with the Prime Minister. He was due to visit Islamabad today.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by members of the federal cabinet, was ready to extend a warm welcome to the President of the UAE at the Nur Khan Air Base of the Pakistan Air Force. The Emirati leader was supposed to be escorted by PAF’s JF-17 aircraft to the airbase, along with a traditional 21-gun salute.
