RAWALPINDI: Army Chief General Asim Munir highlighted on Monday that “each soldier and officer of the armed forces prioritizes their duty and responsibilities above regional, linguistic, and political biases and divisions”.

General Munir, while addressing a ceremony honoring martyrs and officials at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, emphasized that a strong military is the guardian of a nation’s security and unity.

According to a statement from the military’s media affairs wing, 51 officials were bestowed with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (military), 22 received the Tamgha-i-Basalat, and two officials were honored with special United Nations medals.

These accolades were granted in recognition of their courageous acts during operations and commendable services rendered to the nation.

The ceremony was attended by numerous senior army officials and families of the martyrs.

“Without a doubt, we enjoy a free atmosphere today because of the martyrs’ dedication and their immense sacrifices,” stated Gen Munir. He described the sacrifices of the martyrs and the services of the officials as a “priceless asset” and a “source of pride” for the country.
