Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, has emphasized that Islamabad has no objection to the United States (US) forging ties with India as long as it doesn’t come at Pakistan’s expense.
In an exclusive interview with the esteemed American publication Newsweek, the defence minister highlighted that India boasts a massive market of over 1.3 billion individuals.
“Across the globe, major economies seek to partner with them. However, Pakistan’s economy is not as substantial, and it remains vulnerable,” he stated.
“We possess a strategic geographic location, which not only attracts positive attention but also leaves us exposed to various challenges.”
The minister expressed his personal belief that Washington should acknowledge their predicament and avoid putting them in a position where they must make difficult decisions. A certain level of understanding is required regarding Pakistan’s circumstances.
