RAWALPINDI (republic news) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir said on Monday the country should be prepared to counter any threat to national security.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the COAS presided over a Corps Commanders’ Conference that paid a rich tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country and informed the participants about the current situation.
“The sanctuaries and liberty of action available to the terrorists of proscribed TTP and other groups of that ilk in a neighbouring country and availability of latest weapons to the terrorists were noted as major reasons impacting the security of Pakistan,” reads the statement issued by the ISPR.
The conference also reviewed the army’s operational preparedness, the ISPR said. “TTP and other terrorist outfits have safe havens in the country, and they are creating problems in the country,” it added.
The ISPR reported COAS Munir as having said the training was a speciality of the Pakistan Army and proof of its professional competence.
The conference also discussed plans for economic revival and the country’s investment scope. “The army was briefed on sectors of agriculture, IT, minerals and defence production,” the ISPR said.
The participants pledged to support the government’s efforts to revive the economy.
