On Saturday, a Russian-appointed official in the eastern region of Ukraine reported that intense Ukrainian shelling in the Donetsk region resulted in the tragic loss of five civilians and left one woman injured in separate incidents. Denis Pushilin, who serves as the Russian-installed head of the region, conveyed this information through the Telegram messaging app. The casualties occurred in the Kirov and Kuibyshevskyi districts, with the injured woman identified in Svetlodarsk.
It’s important to note that Reuters has been unable to independently corroborate the details provided from Donetsk. This region, along with some other areas in eastern Ukraine, has been under partial control of pro-Russian separatists since 2014.
As of now, there has been no immediate response or comment from Kyiv regarding these reported incidents.
Furthermore, on the same day, Ukraine’s General Staff of the Armed Forces reported significant clashes and noted partial success in the ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensive aimed at reclaiming territory occupied by Russia during its 19-month invasion.
