A consultative gathering of Afghanistan’s neighboring nations and regional stakeholders, which included China and India, has urged the Taliban government to prevent the nation from becoming a “hub of terrorism and instability.” This echoes the concerns that Pakistan has consistently voiced.
This demand was articulated in the declaration issued at the conclusion of the fifth session of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan. The meeting, which included special representatives and senior officials from China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, took place in Kazan, Russia.
Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, was also in attendance, and representatives from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey participated as guests of honor.
In a statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties expressed deep concern over the challenging security situation in Afghanistan, primarily due to the increased activities of terrorist groups, particularly ISIS.
