CJP Qazi Faez Isa Highlights Challenges in Meeting 90-Day Election Timeline

[post-views]

In Islamabad, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa expressed skepticism on Monday regarding the feasibility of meeting the 90-day deadline for conducting elections, citing the unpreparedness of the petitioners.

This observation came during the CJP’s review of petitions requesting that elections be held within 90 days of the dissolution of the assemblies. The CJP is presiding over a three-member bench, joined by Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Amin-Ud-Din Khan.

These petitions were submitted by various entities, including the Supreme Court Bar Association and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), with the aim of ensuring that elections in the country adhere to the stipulated timeframe.

At the outset of the hearing, CJP Isa inquired about the timing of the SCBA’s petition filing and raised questions about its immediate listing for a hearing.
