In a meeting held on Wednesday, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and directed relevant authorities to devise a strategy for fostering economic self-sufficiency within the society.
As per a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Kakar presided over the meeting and received a briefing on BISP’s performance.
While acknowledging the positive outcomes of the BISP, Kakar stressed that Pakistan’s long-term prosperity is closely linked to having financially self-reliant citizens.
The meeting also highlighted that around 60 million members from 10 million families are currently benefiting from the BISP, which boasts an annual budget of Rs471 billion for this year.
