Karachi Chills Out After a Brisk Spell: Warmer Winds and Possible Drizzle Coming

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The good news for Karachiites shivering in the recent cold snap is that the biting winds are set to ease starting Monday, December 25th, according to weather analyst Jawad Memon.

Speaking to Geo News, Memon predicted a gradual decrease in the city’s chilly grip. Nighttime temperatures, which have dipped as low as 12-14°C, are expected to inch up slightly, offering some welcome respite. Daytime temperatures are also forecast to stabilize around 28-29°C, providing more comfortable daytime conditions.

However, a touch of rain or drizzle might dampen the celebratory mood in some parts of Karachi over the next couple of days. While it’s not a full-blown downpour, these light showers could add a bit of sparkle to the holiday season.

But brace yourselves, Karachi fans, because the biting cold might just make a comeback in early January 2024, Memon warns. So, enjoy the milder temperatures while they last, because winter’s not done with you yet!

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts a dry and chilly Saturday for most of the country, with partial cloud cover in the upper north. Some lucky folks in Pothohar, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas might wake up to light rain or even a dusting of snow on the mountains.

However, the not-so-festive news continues for residents of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh, where smog remains a stubborn guest in the plains. Stay close to air purifiers and masks, folks, until the winds carry this unwanted visitor away.

So, bundle up for a potentially rainy weekend and a chilly New Year’s Eve, Karachiites. But remember, spring is just around the corner, bringing with it the promise of warmer days and blooming flowers. Stay cozy, stay safe, and enjoy the changing seasons!
