General Elections: 90% polling stations of Lahore declared sensitive

Lahore: The Election Commission of Pakistan has declared 90 percent of polling stations in Lahore as sensitive.

Sources say that 4 thousand 403 polling stations have been set up for 44 constituencies of Lahore, out of which 3 thousand 540 have been declared as sensitive and 813 as highly sensitive. Only 50 polling stations have been declared normal.

Sources said that additional police personnel along with army personnel will be deployed outside sensitive polling stations. Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras will also be installed at all polling stations.

Polling for 14 seats of the National Assembly and 30 seats of the Provincial Assembly will be held on February 8 in Lahore.

Meanwhile, district monitoring officers on the direction of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) are issuing notices and fines to candidates and other concerned officials for violating the election code of conduct along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The District Monitoring Officers took action against the candidates and imposed a total fine of Rs.966,000.

According to the details, Rs 95 thousand will be given to candidates in Peshawar division, Rs 3 lakh in Malakand division, Rs 1 lakh 71 thousand in Hazara division, Rs 1 lakh 5 thousand in Mardan division, Rs 1 lakh 15 thousand in Kohat division and Rs 30 thousand in Bannu division. A fine was imposed. 15,000 fine was imposed on the candidates for violating the election code of conduct in Dera Ismail Khan Division.
