LAHORE: Senior leader of Muslim League (N) Khawaja Saad Rafique asked PTI-backed independent candidates and PPP to jointly form the government at the Centre.
In a post shared on X, Saad Rafiq said that no one has an absolute majority in the current National Assembly. He said that the formation of the federal government is not the responsibility of the Muslim League but the joint responsibility of all the parties in the parliament.
Independent members supported by PTI take the initiative, form a joint central government with PPP. We congratulate you. He further said that PML-N has no desire to wear this crown of thorns.
Earlier, it was reported that in a meeting chaired by three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, most of the party leaders suggested that the Muslim League (N) should not form a federal government and should focus only on Punjab.
However, some of them argued otherwise, saying that Pakistan was facing a serious economic crisis and the state needed to be saved.
On this occasion, Nawaz Sharif said that the Muslim League (N) should not accept any unprincipled demand presented by the allied parties just for the sake of coming to power at the Centre.
