Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has stated that his party could extend support to the government’s proposed constitutional amendments if their suggestions are taken into account in the final draft. He strongly emphasized the importance of consensus among political forces, underlining the need for unity and collaboration in Pakistani politics. He expressed hope for reaching an agreement with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to present a revised draft to the government.

Rehman also advocated for the restoration of the 18th Amendment and the removal of the 19th Amendment to enhance the parliament’s role in judicial appointments. Additionally, he opposed the politicization of superior court judges. He particularly stressed the need for a peaceful environment for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting, demonstrating JUI-F’s commitment to diplomacy and international relations.
