Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in London on Saturday night for medical care, marking one year since his return to Pakistan after nearly three years in self-imposed exile.
He was greeted by a large crowd of supporters, including Ahsan Dar, the newly appointed president of the UK chapter of his party. In contrast, some PTI party workers protested outside the Avenfield flats, voicing their discontent.
Sharif plans to stay in London for around three days before flying to the United States for private meetings lasting about a week. After reaching Dubai on Friday, he spent the night at the home of Hasnain Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister’s son. A source from the PMLN stated that the 74-year-old leader will spend quality time with his sons while receiving medical treatment.
Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is expected to visit London in the first or second week of next month, where she will accompany her father to Geneva for follow-up care related to her throat surgery. Tensions flared as activists from PMLN and PTI clashed verbally upon Sharif’s arrival at the Avenfield flats.
