The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has announced that PASSCO will be responsible for distributing both domestic and imported wheat until all imported wheat stocks are exhausted. The decision was made during a meeting in Islamabad, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The committee considered how to allocate wheat supplies to regions and agencies facing shortages for the 2024-25 food year.
Additionally, all seven regions in need of wheat will receive amounts based on their specific demands for the upcoming food year. The ECC emphasized the importance of testing the wheat for quality and safety before distribution.
Moreover, the ECC has approved over 35 billion rupees in supplementary funding for various ministries and departments. This includes 30 billion rupees earmarked for the Flood Response Emergency Housing Project in Sindh, along with 252.711 million rupees to maintain essential services at offices related to the Prime Minister, 1.8 billion rupees for maintenance of engines on two aircraft used by state officials, and 2.939 billion rupees for acquiring e-Passport systems.
