The Lahore High Court Election Tribunal recently heard an appeal filed against the victory of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, during which Maryam Nawaz submitted her response before the tribunal. The lawyer of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requested time to submit the original record of Form 45. In response to this request, LHC Justice Anwar Hussain inquired why the forms were not uploaded to the ECP website. The judge ultimately accepted the lawyer’s request and adjourned the hearing to the last week of July.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz also submitted her response before the tribunal, with Barrister Asadullah Chatta Advocate filing a reply on her behalf. The judge remarked that the tribunal requires answers to specific questions, indicating that the appeal is not immediately hearable according to the law.

During the hearing, Justice Anwar Hussain asked about the number of polling stations in Constituency PP-159, to which the ECP counsel replied that there were 102 registered polling stations as per the polling scheme. The judge also noted that Form 45 should be signed by the Presiding Officer, and candidates from other constituencies will also have the same form. Additionally, the LHC justice emphasized that election appeals should be tried as soon as possible, in accordance with the law.
