Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has strongly condemned the ‘one-sided narrative’ and ‘propaganda’ surrounding the recent sit-in in Gwadar. He clarified that the government believes that certain elements have been spreading misinformation and distorting the facts to serve their own interests. He extended an invitation to Dr. Mahrang Baloch and the Baloch Yakjheti Committee (BYC) for negotiations, in the hope of resolving the situation and preventing further unrest.
Bugti expressed his concerns over the portrayal of the Gwadar incident, criticizing the international and local coverage, which external and domestic political interests have influenced. He highlighted the injury of 16 FC personnel during the violence in Gwadar, emphasizing that the state cannot be held hostage by any group. However, for the sake of peace, Bugti reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to peace and its invitation to Dr. Mahrang Baloch for negotiations, a beacon of hope for resolution.
During his address in the Balochistan Assembly, Bugti accused certain foreign countries and local political figures of exploiting the situation for their own agendas. He mentioned India and the UK’s involvement in highlighting the issue and criticized the selective silence of political leaders on incidents involving non-locals. Bugti stressed that the government has a solemn responsibility to protect all citizens from violent mobs, ensuring their safety and security. He also detailed the measures the government has taken to ensure the safety of all citizens, including increased security and law enforcement presence. He emphasized the need for a balanced and fair portrayal of events.
Bugti also shed light on how the Gwadar protest turned violent. He mentioned that the government had offered facilities and support for the BYC’s rally elsewhere, but they knew of intentions to disrupt peace and order. He alleged a significant conspiracy against Pakistan involving various elements and urged a comprehensive and unbiased assessment of the situation.

Furthermore, Bugti highlighted the progress of the Baloch people, referencing the election of a Baloch individual as the President of Pakistan as a milestone of development. This achievement is a testament to the potential and capabilities of the Baloch people, making us all proud. He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to engage in dialogue and addressed the concerns raised by the protesters while emphasizing the need to ensure peace and stability in the province.
