Bilawal Says Early Elections Unlikely, Calls for Political Dialogue and Stability

[post-views]

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said it is “written on the wall” that general elections will not be held in the near future, urging political parties to focus instead on dialogue, reconciliation, and political maturity. Speaking to the media in Larkana on Sunday, Bilawal stressed that expanding democratic space is in the national interest and essential for long-term stability.

He said the state must deal firmly with extremism within politics but made it clear that democratic space remains open for those who operate within constitutional limits. Referring to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Bilawal remarked that the party has not been subjected to unfair treatment, but warned that if any political force behaves like an extremist organisation, the state is duty-bound to act under the law.

Bilawal identified President Asif Ali Zardari as a figure capable of promoting political reconciliation, while cautioning against holding early elections that lack transparency or are surrounded by controversy. He urged all parties to seek political solutions through democratic means.

On the economy, Bilawal said Pakistan has avoided an immediate default but still faces serious challenges. He advocated policy continuity and highlighted Sindh’s public-private partnership model and healthcare reforms under the 18th Amendment as examples of effective governance and improved public welfare.
