China Calls for Ongoing Practical Collaboration with India

[post-views]

China’s Vice President Han Zheng on Monday called for the steady advancement of practical cooperation between China and India, during a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in Beijing. The meeting was reported by China’s official news agency, Xinhua.

Vice President Han emphasized that both countries — as two major developing nations and emerging economies — should continue to strengthen dialogue, enhance mutual trust, and work towards deepening pragmatic cooperation in various fields. He noted that such collaboration is not only beneficial to both sides but also significant for regional and global stability.

Han further stated that China and India should “respect each other’s legitimate concerns” and jointly promote the stable and sustainable development of bilateral relations. His remarks come against the backdrop of lingering tensions following the 2020 border clashes in the Galwan Valley, which have strained ties between the two neighbors.

Indian Minister Jaishankar’s visit is part of broader diplomatic efforts to address ongoing friction along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and to explore avenues for rebuilding bilateral engagement in trade, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.

Although no major agreements were announced during the meeting, both sides appeared to signal a willingness to keep communication channels open and avoid further escalation.
