Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to the United States, holding key meetings with senior US political and military leaders, friendly nation defence chiefs, and the Pakistani diaspora, ISPR confirmed Sunday. In Tampa, he attended the retirement of outgoing US CENTCOM Commander Gen Michael E. Kurilla and welcomed Admiral Brad Cooper as his successor, praising both for fostering bilateral military cooperation. Discussions with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Dan Caine centred on shared security challenges, with an invitation extended to visit Pakistan.

Addressing expatriates, the COAS urged confidence in Pakistan’s future and investment in its growth. The visit comes as US-India relations sour over Trump’s pledge of a 50% tariff on Indian exports, criticism of India’s trade barriers, and Modi’s outreach to Russia—developments reshaping regional power dynamics.
