Jennifer Coolidge, the actress known for playing eccentric characters, recently opened up about her feelings after experiencing a sudden surge of fame in 2023.
In an interview with People magazine, Coolidge shared, “I think people appreciated that I was the dark horse. I portrayed many peculiar women in comedies that amused audiences. But then Mike White cast me in The White Lotus, a blend of drama and comedy, which was a new experience for me.”
For the uninitiated, Coolidge started the year with almost four awards, a Super Bowl commercial for e.l.f. Cosmetics, a Critics Choice Award, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals Woman of the Year title, and even a Golden Globe.
Coolidge attributed her newfound success to an unexplained phenomenon, saying, “Something happened this awards season. I’m not sure if they just kept playing clips of me on the internet or Instagram, but it doesn’t matter what disguise I’m wearing, even if it’s a frog costume with a helmet, people recognize me.”
Despite the sudden attention, Coolidge remained grounded and humble.
