ISLAMABAD: In a historic move, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is set to depart for India tomorrow to attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Goa, as per sources.

As the first Pakistani foreign minister to visit India in almost 12 years, FM Bhutto is all geared up to lead the Pakistan delegation to the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), to be held in the Indian city of Goa on May 4 and 5.

In addition to attending the SCO moot, Pakistan’s foreign minister will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other SCO member states during his visit to India.

In a weekly press briefing, MOFA spokesperson Mumtaz Zahrah Baloch stated that Pakistan’s participation in the meeting showcases its commitment to the SCO charter and processes and highlights the importance of the region in Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities.
