IMF Doors Wide Open: Pakistan PM’s Unstoppable Charm

PARIS: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a crucial meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Thursday, urging the financial institution to unlock the funds that have been stalled. Pakistan has diligently met all the conditions set forth by the IMF.

The prime minister seized the opportunity during the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact, currently taking place in Paris, to assure the IMF of Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to fulfill all the promises made in this regard.

Both leaders engaged in a fruitful discussion, exchanging views on the ongoing programs and the collaboration between Pakistan and the IMF.

Reflecting on their previous telephone conversation, the prime minister briefed Georgieva on Pakistan’s economic outlook.

He highlighted the proactive measures implemented by his government to foster economic growth and stability, emphasizing that all the necessary actions for the 9th review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) had been successfully accomplished. Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s full dedication to meeting its obligations as mutually agreed upon with the IMF.
