Tensions in the Middle East reached a deadly peak as Iran launched a fresh wave of missile strikes on Israel, killing at least five civilians in Tel Aviv and striking the northern port city of Haifa. The attack came just hours after Israel carried out a major aerial assault on Tehran, leaving devastation in the Iranian capital.

The death toll from Israel’s latest bombardment of Iran has climbed to 224, including at least 70 women and children. Among those killed were three top commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including the influential intelligence chief — a major blow to Iran’s military leadership.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned Israel’s strikes as acts of aggression and vowed that Tehran’s military response would continue until Israel halts its attacks. “This is not about retaliation — it’s about defending our people and sovereignty,” he said in a press briefing.

In Washington, US President Donald Trump expressed cautious optimism. “I still believe a deal is possible,” he told reporters, adding that the U.S. would stand firmly with Israel in the meantime. “Our support for Israel’s security remains unshakable.”

The unfolding conflict has prompted international concern, with calls for restraint growing louder at the United Nations. However, with both nations escalating military operations and civilian casualties mounting, hopes for de-escalation appear increasingly dim.

As the crisis deepens, regional stability hangs in the balance — with the risk of a broader war drawing in global powers.
