Imran Khan Issues Stern Warning to Government: Potential Protests Loom

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has delivered a stark message to the government, expressing serious concerns about the possibility of widespread protests if decisions regarding reserved seats are disregarded or if attempts are made to extend the Chief Justice’s term. During an informal meeting with journalists in Adiala Jail, Khan voiced his dissatisfaction with the current political climate and drew a troubling analogy between Pakistan’s situation and that of Bangladesh under Sheikh Hasina.

Imran Khan, in a stark comparison, emphasized that Pakistan’s political conditions are even worse than those in Bangladesh. He stressed that similar events to those under Hasina’s leadership have taken place and are ongoing in Pakistan, causing profound dismay.

In a forceful critique of the government’s handling of the 9th May incidents, Khan accused the authorities of cracking down on PTI under false pretenses. He alleged that those responsible for orchestrating events on that day were also the ones who had stolen the footage. This has led to the imprisonment, exile or coercion of PTI’s leadership.

Imran Khan warned in no uncertain terms that any attempt to prolong the Chief Justice’s term or dismiss Supreme Court decisions would inevitably lead to significant unrest. He also strongly condemned the alleged electoral fraud, arguing that the government’s actions, such as placing its own judges in tribunals and violating the constitution by not holding elections in two provinces, are further fueling tensions and may well lead to widespread unrest if left unaddressed.
