Iran Holds Firm as It Considers New US Negotiation Terms

[post-views]

Iran’s top security authority has said it is currently evaluating “new proposals” from the United States, while firmly asserting that its negotiators will not make concessions in talks with Washington.

According to a statement carried by state media, the Supreme National Security Council said the proposals were conveyed recently through mediation involving the Pakistani army chief during discussions in Tehran. It added that Iran has not yet issued a formal response and is still reviewing the suggestions.

The council stressed that Iran’s negotiation team will “not compromise or show leniency” and will fully defend national interests throughout the process.

The statement comes as Pakistan has played a mediating role between Tehran and Washington, hosting an initial round of talks last week that ended without agreement.

Tensions have also risen following Iran’s move related to the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing disputes with the United States over port access and sanctions. Tehran indicated that any easing of restrictions would depend on conditions linked to security, transit regulation, and fees.

Meanwhile, the United States has warned Iran against using maritime restrictions as leverage in diplomatic negotiations.
