French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to congratulate him on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts that helped secure a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
During what was described as a warm and cordial conversation, Macron acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue and bringing both sides to the negotiating table at a critical moment. He also extended his best wishes to the prime minister for the success of upcoming peace talks scheduled to be held in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the French president for his support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region through continued diplomatic engagement.
The two leaders also discussed the broader regional situation, expressing serious concern over ongoing violence in Lebanon. They stressed the urgent need to halt aggression and end the loss of innocent lives to restore calm and stability.
Both sides agreed to stay in close contact and continue consultations on regional peace efforts and evolving geopolitical developments.
