Maryam’s promotion prompts Abbasi’s resignation

Ex-PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has bid farewell to his post as the Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), according to sources who spoke to Republic News.

It’s reported that the reason for Abbasi’s resignation stems from the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as the new Chief Organizer and Senior Vice President of PML-N, a decision that was allegedly made without proper consultation with other party members.

Apparently, Abbasi was left feeling miffed and tendered his resignation the following day.

Maryam was recently given the green light to revamp the party from top to bottom, making her the third most influential figure in PML-N after her dad, Nawaz Sharif, and uncle Shehbaz Sharif who is the current Prime Minister. When reached for comment, Abbasi declined to make any official statement about his resignation.
