Seven individuals were brutally murdered in a mass shooting that occurred at two separate sites within the coastal northern California city of Half Moon Bay on Monday. The perpetrator was apprehended after driving to a police parking lot, and it is believed that he was attempting to turn himself in to the authorities.

This shooting in Half Moon Bay, located approximately 30 miles (50 km) south of San Francisco, follows another mass shooting in the southern California city of Monterey Park that occurred on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals.

California Governor Gavin Newsom stated that he was visiting victims of the Monterey Park shooting in the hospital when he was called away and informed of the shooting in Half Moon Bay, located about 380 miles (610 km) to the north.
