Security Forces Repel Afghan Taliban Assault in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

[post-views]

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan’s security forces successfully repelled an attack on a border post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Ghulam Khan Sector by Afghan Taliban and allied terrorists, killing 37 and injuring over 80.

The incident occurred during the night of April 2–3 as part of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched on February 26 in response to cross-border Taliban attacks. The operation was briefly paused on March 18 at the request of “brotherly Islamic countries” but resumed on March 26.

Tarar stated that as of April 5, 796 militants had been killed and more than 1,043 injured. Additionally, 286 enemy posts were destroyed, 44 captured, and 249 tanks, armored vehicles, artillery guns, and drones eliminated. Airstrikes also targeted 81 terrorist positions and support infrastructure across Afghanistan.

The minister described the attackers as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” the state’s designation for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban.
